Tattoo care tips

Getting inked is a memorable moment in anyone’s life and also a big commitment as it is something that is permanent. Tattoos add color to the pigment of your skin and since they are directly on it, it is essential that you take ample care of the tattooed area after you get inked. Hence here are some of the essential tips you need to follow:

Do not cover the tattoo after getting inked

Do not cover it with your clothes as it can rub against your skin and irritate it and slower the healing process.

Use warm water to clean your tattoo

For the first few days, use warm water and soap to clean your tattoo as your skin is still soar and under the healing process. Warm water will soothe the skin.

Apply a moisturising cream

Apply a thick moisturising cream to soothe your skin. You can use a cold cream or some olive oil too

Do not touch the tattoo

you have to avoid touching the tattoo let it dry and scratch the itch. In case it gets unbearable, gently swipe your finger over it with a feather-like touch. Or, follow the tip in the step above.

Apply sunscreen if that tattoo is exposed

If you’ve got inked in an area that is often left exposed, make sure that you apply sunscreen on it to protect from the sun’s harmful rays. Or else, simply stick to moisturiser.

Get your tattoo retouched after a couple of years

you will notice that the ink has become fainter than usual or turned slightly green. This is a sign for a retouch. If you have a colourful tattoo you may need a retouch sooner than a black ink tattoo.
